Why should you care what I think?
I love pizza, make it every week, and test out a new portable pizza oven about once a month for this blog and my YouTube channel. Way too much space in my brain—and my stomach!—is devoted to pizza … but is there really such a thing as too much pizza? I doubt it.

Edible Pizza-Related Gifts
Mike’s Hot Honey
This stuff is amazing to drizzle on pizza. There’s no real limit to what kind of pizza you can put it on, but it’s definitely delicious on cheese, pepperoni, and other meat-based pizzas. Even my mother drenches her pizza in hot honey, which is a surprise to me because she doesn’t usually seek out foods that are sweet or spicy … and this is both! (It’s not really that spicy, though.)

Calabrian Chili Paste
Calabrian chilis are trendy, and when you taste some on pizza, you’ll understand why. This stuff is a little spicier than the hot honey, so if you are concerned about spice tolerance, I’d recommend the hot honey over the Calabrian chili paste. But if you (or your gift recipient) have a reasonable level of spice tolerance (roughly equal to being okay eating “medium” spicy food at a Thai restaurant), then you—or your giftee—will probably like this. But take note: this stuff is intended to be put on a pizza before it gets baked.

Gifts for Cooking Pizza
Dough Scraper
The first time I saw a dough scraper, I thought, “What’s the point of this? I already have a spatula for scraping the inside of a bowl.” Oh, how wrong I was! I’ve been surprised at how handy my dough scraper is when making pizza dough. Is it necessary? No, it’s not. But some of the best gifts are products that the recipient would never think to buy for themself even though doing so would make their life better in some small way.
- FLEXIBLE YET FIRM. It offers the optimum tension when bringing your dough out for action. From…
Bench Scraper
Similar to the dough scraper, I didn’t think I needed a bench scraper until I owned one. I got my bench scraper as a stocking stuffer from my wife many years ago. And I use my bench scraper all the time—not just for making pizza, though I certainly use it for that, but also just about every time I chop ingredients finely on my cutting board. It’s so much easier to swipe the little chopped bits (or a pizza dough ball) up from my cutting board using my bench scraper instead of my hands!
- Great for cutting dough, sectioning crusts, scraping baking sheets, chopping veggies and more
Stand Mixer
If your giftee is using their hands or a cheap stand mixer to make pizza dough, then it may be time for an upgrade! You can’t really go wrong with a tried-and-true Kitchenaid. I’ve used my Kitchenaid Professional for over a decade, and it’s still going strong. When selecting a stand mixer for making pizza dough, aside from overall quality and durability, you’ll want to look at how many rotations per minute (RPM) the mixer is capable of. For pizza dough, it’s optimal to use a slower speed between 115 RPM and 150 RPM depending on what kind of dough hook you are using. This Kitchenaid model comes with a dough hook and good speed control, but please be aware that with other models, you sometimes need to purchase a dough hook separately.
Cookbooks
My two main cookbook gift recommendations are:
- Mastering Pizza for pizza lovers generally. This cookbook has broad appeal—it’s hard to imagine how someone could like pizza but not like this book. It’s wordy but has plenty of delicious-looking photos. It would work well as a coffee table book or for actually making pizza using the recipes.
- The Pizza Bible for anybody who is serious about learning to make mouth-watering pizza in many styles at home. Only a regular home oven (with a broiler to reach 550°F) and a pizza steel are necessary.

I have a more detailed guide to pizza cookbooks if you’re interested.
A Pizza Steel
Want to make nearly restaurant-quality pizza at home but not ready to buy a dedicated pizza oven? Pizza steel to the rescue! If your home oven has a broiler that can hit 550°F, then a steel is a fantastic way to get your feet wet.
Aside from a pizza steel, you could also consider a pizza stone or cast iron pan—but a steel is our highest recommendation if pizza is your focus. Be sure to check the weight of whatever steel you are thinking about buying because they can be heavy!
A Pizza Oven
Ready to splurge on a dedicated pizza oven? I know all about the options here! I’m going to assume a few things: (1) the giftee has enough space at their home for an outdoor pizza oven, (2) the giftee might want to make both New York and Neapolitan style pizzas, and (3) propane is an acceptable fuel choice. (Propane is the most common and convenient option for most folks.)
Below are four recommendations at different price points.
#1 Gozney Arc XL (for pizzas up to 16″)
The Gozney Arc XL is our #1 recommended outdoor pizza oven after testing over 50 different portable ovens. Gozney is renowned for their high build quality and stunning designs. We love the Arc XL for its ease of use—perfect for a beginner, but also a solid option for someone more experienced. The lateral burner design gives you nuanced, even control of your stone temperature with low risk of burning your pizza. The XL size is large enough to make 16 inch pizzas, which is my favorite way to keep a crowd fed and entertained.
Here’s my detailed review of the Arc XL.
#2 Ooni Karu 2 Pro (for pizzas up to 16″)
The Karu 2 Pro comes in at a close second to the Arc XL in our rankings. The two ovens are really neck-in-neck, but what you get with the Karu 2 Pro that you don’t get with the Arc XL is greater optionality. The Karu 2 Pro comes with the option to cook with wood or charcoal. You actually have to buy the propane gas burner separately, and I highly recommend that you do because the gas burner will likely get the most use! Nevertheless, it’s helpful to have the ability to cook with wood if you have any interest in trying that out. Technically, a Neapolitan style pizza can’t be considered a true Neapolitan unless it’s cooked with wood … but plenty of people don’t care about this rule. The Karu 2 Pro can cook pizzas up to 16″ as well.
Here’s my complete review of the Karu 2 Pro.
#3 Ooni Karu 2 (for pizzas up to 12″)
The Karu 2 is part of the same product line as the Karu 2 Pro, but it’s smaller and easier on the wallet. The essential difference between them is that the Karu 2 can only make pizzas up to 12 inches in diameter.
Here’s our review of the Karu 2.
#4 Solo Stove Pi Prime (for pizzas up to 12″)
The Pi Prime is our most recommended outdoor oven in the budget price range. It’s propane-only and can make 12 inch pizzas, but it can cook those pizzas about as well as an oven that’s twice the price. It just requires slightly more practice to get great results in the Pi Prime compared to an oven in the same league as the Arc XL. The build quality also isn’t quite up to the same standard as the above ovens, but it’s still pretty good.
Here’s our review of the Pi Prime.

Pizza Themed Home Decor
Christmas Ornament
Every year, my family picks out a new ornament for our Christmas tree. Our most recent pick was this lovely pizza slice from Old World Christmas, a company that has been making ornaments for over 40 years. It’s made of nice quality blown glass, is sparkly, and adds a touch of light-hearted fun to our tree.
Decorative Sign
As much as I like pizza, I’m not such a fanatic that I would put pizza-related posters on my walls or anything like that. But I appreciate this understated sign that makes my love of pizza evident without being tacky.
- Box sign measures 10″ x 6″
- Made of high Quality painted wood
- Specially designed to freely stand on a flat surface or hang on a wall
Pizza Gifts for Kids and Families
Picture Book
Every Night is Pizza Night is a children’s book by the famous J. Kenji López-Alt. My wife and I read this book to our son many times when he was very young. It’s a wonderful way to indoctrinate a love of food at a young age! This book is not only about how delicious pizza is—it also serves to teach open-mindedness about less familiar foods from cultures around the world.

Pizza Fashion
Clothing
A close friend of mine gave me this t-shirt as a birthday gift. It was very appropriate and much appreciated! (Thanks, Andrea!)
- This is a funny pizza delivery design for food lovers who eat pizza with cheese.
Jewelry
The nicest (expensive) pizza-related jewelry that I have seen is this collection from Sydney Evan. But these realistic-looking handmade pizza charms are more impressive to me. They’re made by a talented miniature food artist in the Pacific Northwest named Catharine Devine.
Pizza Wrapping Paper
If you’re giving a pizza-related gift, you can take it to the next level by wrapping your gift in cheese-and-pepperoni wrapping paper or tissue paper.
